The play takes place on a table that is about the same size as a Craps table. The centre of the table belongs to the dealer and is covered by a clear plastic dome. The sides of the table are reserved for the players and up to six can be seated on each side.

The game starts with the dealer placing the cup over a pile of white buttons. There is no determined amount but the standard is anywhere up to 60. The players then choose from a series of bets where they effectively guess the number of buttons that are underneath the cup.
